Markie has been involved in Altheia for more than 5 years, with 4 of her grandchildren currently attending the school. In addition, she frequently serves as a substitute teacher and volunteers in the classrooms. Markie has BS degrees in both Special Education and Elementary Education, as well as a Masters of Online teaching certificate and a Paralegal certificate. She has taught in many capacities for over 45 years, from preschool through college, including teaching English as a second language in France and Oman. After 20 years, she retired from Illinois Central College as an instructor in Paralegal Studies. Markie is a member of Bethany Church, where her husband Bob serves as the Exec Pastor. She volunteers in various ways, including teaching Children’s Church and mentoring young moms. Bob and Markie have 7 grandchildren.
